Accommodation Review: Wynola Boomerang Beach NSW

Updated: Mar 3, 2019

As soon as I drove down Boomerang Road (from Blueys Beach) I spotted Wynola from above the hill before I was anywhere near her. I knew it was where I was staying the night despite the fact I had not seen the home before (except via photos) because Wynola stands out like the princess that she is, draped in her pale blue exterior and surrounded by a white picket fence.

Wynola is situated on Boomerang Road, right opposite the beach on a corner block with an abundance of birds and trees.

A 1920s Queenslander, Wynola oozes old-school charm and character. The house was relocated to Boomerang Beach which is a beautiful area on the Mid North Coast of NSW and has been lovingly renovated and restored to its former glory by its owners Glen and Bee.

As my car pulled up outside I was in awe of how stunning this home is and I hadn't even ventured inside yet!

The Entrance and Verandahs

Being a Queenslander, verandahs are a major feature and there is plenty of room to sit and relax or dine outside. Seating is plentiful and the stunning table offers the perfect place for dining when the weather is warm. A bench with chairs is situated outside the kitchen which is perfect for informal dining.

Personally I'm an outdoors person and at home, when the weather is warm, every window and door is fully opened to let in the fresh air and sounds of the birds. There are plenty of windows and doors at Wynola to let that beautiful ocean breeze flow through the house.

The Foyer

As soon as I opened the front door I knew that this home was going to be fun to explore. A beautiful fragrance was wafting through the house and it had a very welcoming feel.

The Bedrooms and Bathrooms

There are four bedrooms at Wynola. Two main at the front then and two others at the back. Everything about Wynola is perfect, from the artwork and the fine little details. I chose the main bedroom with the king size bed and the ensuite that has an antique bath. The adjacent bedroom has a small sunroom and day bed, walk in robe and French doors leading out to the side verandah.

I was to discover later that night that my bed was extremely comfortable. Each room has been thoughtfully decorated with little touches that make it feel just like home. Wynola is decorated to keep its heritage and to also give a beach vibe.

The bathrooms are huge, with quality towels and full of light.

The Lounge and Dining Room

The lounge is spacious with two seperate seating areas and a dining nook. There's an open fireplace (for show) and this room really displays its true Queenslander heritage. It was a cold cloudy afternoon when I stayed so I snuggled up with one of the rugs and soaked in the wonderful atmosphere of Wynola.

One of the bedrooms is off the side of the living area and on the opposite side are French doors that open onto the verandah.

The Kitchen

The Wynola kitchen is a chef's paradise. The stained glass windows are stunning and all open up to let in ample light and air. There's a kitchen nook off the side which houses a small bar fridge and the coffee machine and microwave. The kitchen has plenty of bench space and quality appliances including a large fridge.

One of the features which I mentioned before are the windows that open up so that people sitting outside can see into the kitchen, however a bench is also on the inside that truly joins both the inside to outside. This means for those whipping up a storm in the kitchen they need not be isolated from others enjoying the outside space.

Other

There is plenty of parking on site. Under the house guests are welcome to use the bikes and laundry. Wynola is close to Blueys Beach shopping centre and as mentioned right opposite Boomerang Beach. A fire pit is situated in the garden, along with a bbq and outdoor shower.
