Vanessa Amorosi is one of Australia's most respected singer songwriters who has been a favourite since she hit the charts with 'Absolutely Everybody', a top 10 hit that stayed in the charts for six months, certified double platinum in Australia and charted through Europe.
Her album Power released in 2000 received six nominations at the Aria awards. In the same year Amorosi performed "Heroes Live Forever" at the opening of the Sydney Olympics in front of a global TV audience of billions.
In the last decade the powerful singer has been living in the US and recently returned to Australia for her tour. Details on her website www.vanessaamorosi.com - and check out Heavy Lies the Head, it's awesome.
I had a chance to ask Vanessa Amorosi some questions regarding her new single 'Heavy Lies the Head' and her Australian tour.
I've spent the last 10 years living and working in LA and now am ready to share the new music that I've been working on.
I love it! It’s my happy place. I'm excited to show some of the new music I've been working on, but also relive my childhood with some of the songs the audience knows me for.
Heavy Lies the Head is brutally honest track that I've wanted to make my whole career. It's my first solo single in almost a decade, so I wanted to showcase some of the influences I've had in the last several years. Artists like Dave Stewart, Aleena Gibson and Trevor Muzzy and Tony Joe White just to name a few.
As early as 5, I grew up listening to and became inspired by Aretha Franklin and Etta James.
Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, Tennessee Mass Choir, Mary J Blige, Rob Thomas, Joe Crocker and Hoobastank.
To continue making great music and seeing my friends on the road.
You have to be so passionate about what you’re doing cause the word you’ll hear a lot of is no 😃
