Thousands are expected to descend upon the Southern Highlands over the weekend of November 15 and 16, as “Probably the Toughest Event on the Planet” returns to New South Wales in 2014 – bigger and muddier than ever.
Only 1.5 hours from both Sydney and Canberra, Tough Mudder Sydney will this year take place at the Southern Highlands – serving up diverse terrain filled with gut-busting mud, deep gorges and thick Aussie bush ideal for the mad-minded Course Designers to build the world’s best and toughest obstacles on.
The all new Sydney course is expected to be the most epic Tough Mudder yet with a host of new challenges set to test the team work and spirit of participants. At the Southern Highlands “Mudders” will tackle a 20km military-style course designed by British Special Forces with exciting new obstacles including –
“Leap of Faith” – a flying leap over a pit of water to a hanging cargo net
“Pole Dancer” – cross a pit of water on two rails, using only upper body strength
“Hangin Tough” – a series of roman rings above a pit of water
Some old Tough Mudder favourites will also make a triumphant return including “Everest” – a greased-up quarter-pipe; and “Electroshock Therapy” – a gauntlet of 10,000-volt-charged dangling wires participants must barrel through to get to the finish line. The goal for participants is not to win a medal but simply to finish – on average, only 78% successfully complete the event. With a course designed to be virtually impossible to complete individually, 80% of participants register with a team.
Whether it’s your first or tenth event, Tough Mudder is always a challenging and rewarding experience – so gather your friends and family, and together unlock a sense of accomplishment unlike anything else.
