David Tsirekas Chef's Table Event
Last night I was lucky enough to enjoy David Tsirekas Chef's Table at the The Civic Hotel along with other media and guests. We were treated to delicious cuisine (and some fab wine) from the new menu, which was presented by Chef David. He's a real character too, I enjoyed David's hospitality and his obvious love for creating beautiful food.

We sampled dishes from the meze board and included tarama, eggplant, dolmathes, spinach pie, marinated olives, zucchini chips which was served with traditional Greek ouzo. This meze plate was so delicious and as I type this I'm thinking I'd love to be back there right now eating it all over again. I love Greek spinach pie and this was easily one of the best I have ever had. The dips were superb and as for the zucchini chips.....I ate too many!
Following the meze board we were then treated to David's mini yeeros dishes. The selection included Athenian duck, pork belly and soft shell crab which were all served with Vulkan Santorini Blonde Beer or Alpha Estate Malagouzia. I can't even tell you which was my favourite because each one of them was tantalising. Flavour sensation!

For the main course, the dishes included lamb shoulder and mushroom truffle moussaka, which was complemented with Alpha Estate SMX. The menu is a new direction in pub food and a far cry from the $10 steak which is often the norm. The lamb was falling off the bone, beautiful and tender and as for the mushroom truffle moussaka I'll leave you to imagine how nice that was!
David also gave us an exclusive sneak peek into the fine-dining establishment 1821 which is opening late September and shared one of it’s signature dishes, and matching wine for the very first time. Our treat was aeagan lobster spaghetti served with Biblio Chora Biblinos (Ancient Phonecian Cult Wine). What more can I say? Can't wait for 1821 to open its doors.
