Five "Christmas in July" Ideas for Sydneysiders

Now that we are officially in winter many people like to celebrate the colder weather by having a Christmas in July Party. Here are five ideas on how to brighten up July with some mid-year pretend Christmas cheer.

THE BLUE MOUNTAINS YULEFEST

Yulefest 2016 in the Blue Mountains is a wonderful time of year. I lived in the Blue Mountains for thirteen years and I was lucky enough to experience snow on many occasions. One of my fondest memories is taking my now 25-year-old daughter to play in the snow when she was four, and cradling my newborn daughter in my arms. Emma was so delighted as she ran around the snow-covered park in Leura with her dad.

Yulesfest in the Blue Mountains (June, July and August) is where many venues offer traditional Christmas style celebrations. Be prepared though, it’s cold up there, however there is nothing nicer than the experience of warm log fires, Christmas dinners and entertainment. The Blue Mountains is truly a 'Winter Wonderland'.

HAVE A CHRISTMAS IN JULY OFFICE PARTY

Get rid of the winter doldrums by throwing your own Christmas in July Office Party, brew up some Mulled Wine and order some office catering by Flavours Catering and Events who specialize in themed catering.

For those doing Dry July (like me) or aren’t allowed alcohol at work, you might have to whip up some Mocktails. (Linking to one of my posts on Mocktails).

TAKE A CRUISE

We all associate cruising on the Sydney Harbour as a summer time experience but you can still have a great wintertime experience as a few of the cruises are having “Christmas in July” celebrations. Captain Cook Cruises are putting on a Seafood Buffet Lunch Cruise from 10-16 July 2016 with loads of bonus Yuletide treats.

Vagabond are offering a three hour cruise with both Seafood and Carvery Christmas buffet with coffee, tea and desserts, bonbons on every table and a range of live music performed on board to set the scene.

On July 25th, the historic James Craig is taking a Christmas in July sail, I’ve been on this beautiful ship and it’s a lot of fun except if you get seasick of course.

FIGHT ON THE BEACHES CHRISTMAS IN JULY – RAISING MONEY FOR ‘FIGHT FOR A CURE’

Fight on the Beaches has raised over $468 000 over the past two years for cancer research and on Friday 8th July at Miramare Gardens, along with MC Richard Wilkins, 'fight for a cure', are holding a Christmas in July. The money raised is to help find a cure for cancer.

Tickets include a fabulous 3-course meal with sparkling wine on arrival and unlimited wine throughout the evening and entertainment from Jellybean Jam. There will also be prizes, auctions and raffles throughout the night. The big man in red will also be there to make all your Christmas in July wishes come true!

HEAD DOWN TO THREDBO FOR CHRISTMAS IN JULY

Christmas In July at Thredbo is between 23 – 25 July. Thredbo Resort has plenty of Christmas in July entertainment including live entertainment, yuletide feasts and maybe even a visit from Santa.
