Storytelling has been around since humans could talk and it’s an essential part of true community.

Stories That Stir are ongoing events that are designed to break down barriers, stir conversation and inspire positive change. At each event, six people share a raw and personal story linked to a theme, and the concept is expanding globally.

The one that I saw is curated by Monica Rosenfeld who had a public relations company, then took up stand-up comedy and now takes storytelling back to community.

Jessie Williams’ child died at birth and she told us how she coped and her healing process. She wants death to be part of the normal conversation.

Rob Prugue shared his traumatic experience as a twelve-year-old and his journey since that time. It was the first time that he had revealed those details outside a few people who are close to him. His catharsis was really moving.

Just before Oksana Koriakova left Russia she was robbed and came close to being murdered by criminals. She came to Australia with very little money and spoke no English. Oksana eventually established and built a business, winning an American Express award for the fastest growing company in her category.

Is this age of TikTok, X, Instagram, AI, emails, Facebook, etc., it’s refreshing to have people actually meeting in person and sharing their moving and inspiring stories.
