Woolworths Carols in the Domain brings musical theatre to the stage for a festive extravaganza

Things to do in Sydney | Woolworths Carols in the Domain is pleased to announce that two of the biggest musical theatre stage shows – Grease the Musical and Strictly Ballroom the Musical - are getting ready to raise the stakes, bringing their glitzy and energetic performance style to the Carols stage. Grease the Musical and Strictly Ballroom the Musical are the latest acts to be announced on the line up of this year’s event, which is set to be bigger than ever before. See the two leads from Baz Luhrmann’s Strictly Ballroom the Musical, newly announced Newtown School of Performing Arts graduate Phoebe Panaretos who will play Fran as well as „triple threat‟ 20-year-old Thomas Lacey who is set to play the pivotal lead role of Scott Hasting, take to the stage for what is set to be a show-stopping performance. Co-writer and director of Strictly Ballroom the Musical Baz Luhrmann said, “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring our musical and dance spectacular to Carols. Phoebe and Thomas are wonderful performers who will light up the stage when they debut their new roles and celebrate the festive spirit with the anticipated 80,000-strong crowd of festive carollers.” With sold out shows across the country, the stars from the No. 1 party musical, Grease, are also ready to treat Australians to a truly electrifyn’ performance. Gretel Scarlett, who plays the female lead Sandy, shared an insight into the cast’s excitement about performing at Woolworths Carols in the Domain, “Rob Mills and I are over the moon to be performing at Carols, alongside our wonderful Grease co-stars. To have the opportunity to sing and dance to Australia’s much loved Christmas carols on a national stage is a thrilling experience.” The ever-popular Carols event, which will be held this year on 21 December, is set to deliver another star-studded line-up including Jimmy Barnes, The Wiggles, Tina Arena, Dami Im, Jai Waetford, Mark Vincent and this year‟s Ambassadors, Samantha Jade and Johnny Ruffo.
