Fiesta in the City

Review by Alissa Thibault

Margaritas, tacos, churros and a giant paella… what a way to spend a Wednesday night! Big thanks to the Merivale for having us last night for Fiesta at El Loco. The bar was immaculately decorated to reflect all things Mexican, even the bar staff got into the spirit with elaborate face paint. We sampled just about everything on offer (including the ox tongue taco) but the highlight would have to be the churros with caramel dipping sauce, hands down the best ever!

Payment for everything was based on a token system so a margarita would set you back two tokens, a quesadilla 1 token etc. and it was $35 for 6 tokens. It was a great way of organising things but the hardest decision was how to divide it up without missing out on anything!

The atmosphere was buzzing, the staff extremely friendly and the roving musicians added just that something extra to make it feel like a party. If it were a Friday night we would have stayed past 10pm.
