Paradox Sydney is a hotel many Sydneysiders will already know well. Formerly the Radisson Blu, it’s a property I’ve both stayed at and dined in numerous times over the years, long before its recent rebrand. What hasn’t changed is its sense of quiet grandeur — the kind you feel the moment you step inside.

Housed within a beautifully restored 19th-century sandstone building, the hotel sits in O’Connell Street, perfectly positioned between Sydney’s CBD and Circular Quay. It’s an easy walk to the Opera House, The Rocks, and the city’s financial district, making it equally suited to business travellers, weekend escapes, and theatre-goers. Arrival is polished but unpretentious, with a doorman on hand to assist and set the tone for a seamless stay.

Inside, heritage architecture meets contemporary design in a way that feels refined rather than flashy. The rooms and suites balance original features with modern comfort, creating a calm retreat from the city without losing that unmistakable sense of place. Whether you’re in Sydney for work, a romantic harbour weekend, or a special event, this is a hotel that feels quietly confident in what it offers.

Following a significant refurbishment, the hotel now offers more than 360 rooms and suites, along with expansive meeting and event spaces, a wellness centre, and some of Sydney’s most respected dining venues — all wrapped within its striking heritage façade. Subtle updates are continuing as the property settles into the Paradox brand, but the experience remains familiar in the best possible way.

Dining & Bars

Dining is very much part of the Paradox Sydney experience, whether you’re staying in-house or simply visiting for a meal or drink.

Bentley Restaurant + Bar

Bentley has long been regarded as one of Sydney’s standout dining destinations. Set within an industrial-chic space, it pairs innovative, produce-driven cuisine with one of the country’s most respected boutique wine lists. For those who appreciate thoughtful food and exceptional wine, Bentley remains a drawcard in its own right.

Fax Bar

Fax Bar offers a more relaxed but equally polished setting. The menu focuses on premium Australian produce, served across breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a style that feels approachable yet refined. It’s an easy choice for an after-work drink, a casual meeting, or a laid-back meal in the heart of the city.
