Some places quietly stand the test of time — and then there are pubs like Royal Cricketers Arms, which seem to get better with age.

Royal Cricketer's Arms Location

Tucked away in Prospect, this historic Western Sydney pub has been welcoming locals since 1880, and yet it still feels like one of Sydney’s best-kept secrets. With its country-style warmth, generous hospitality and genuinely good food, it’s the kind of place that reminds you why classic Australian pubs never go out of style.

While staying at the Atura Hotel Blacktown dining at the Royal Cricketers Arms was where we headed for dinner. As I always do, I had done my research prior to turning up, and I was very keen to visit the Royal Cricketers Arms Hotel.

Like many historic pubs, the Royal Cricketers Arms has its share of ghost stories — and staff are more than happy to share a few if you ask.

After being shown to our table, drinks were ordered and the scale of the venue really came into focus. The Royal Cricketers Arms offers an expansive outdoor dining area, complemented by a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere that feels both welcoming and unpretentious — the kind of place that works just as well for a casual meal as it does for a long, leisurely lunch.

The New York–style steak sandwich was a standout, with the beetroot relish adding just the right balance of sweetness.

The Fresh Salmon with Lemon Mashed Potato was beautifully presented dish that tasted amazing. The lemon with the potato was the perfect match with the fish. It also came with an olive tapenade and tomato salsa that made the The fresh salmon was served with lemon-infused mashed potato, a combination that worked beautifully with the richness of the fish.

As with any long-standing pub, the menu at the Royal Cricketers Arms changes seasonally, so it’s best to check the current menu ahead of your visit.

The Cricketer's Arms is a hidden Sydney gem with its picturesque surroundings, nice background music that is not too loud so you can actually have a conversation without shouting.

Whether you’re visiting for a long lunch, a relaxed family dinner or a cosy winter meal by the fire, the Royal Cricketers Arms remains one of Western Sydney’s most rewarding pub experiences.
