Take Your Dog Off-Grid: Lyka and Unyoked Launch a Nature Escape for Dogs and Their Humans

Getting away from the noise of everyday life is one thing. Being able to take your dog along for the adventure can be considerably harder.

This spring, Australian fresh dog food company Lyka and off-grid cabin company Unyoked are joining forces to create Lyka Lodge, a limited-time nature escape designed around dogs and the people who love travelling with them.

Available for stays from 21 September until 25 October 2026, two Unyoked cabins outside Sydney and Melbourne will be transformed into dog-friendly Lyka Lodges, combining secluded stays in nature with some thoughtful extras specifically for four-legged guests.

Dogs can expect their own beds, puzzles and treats, along with one particularly charming addition — a dog stick library. Lyka Dental Chews, poo bags and dedicated dog bowls are also part of the experience.

Guests can bring their dog's usual food from home, while those who sign up to Lyka after booking can receive a complimentary cooler bag to help keep their dog's meals fresh during the journey.

The collaboration taps into a very real issue for Australian dog owners: finding somewhere genuinely enjoyable to stay with a dog isn't always easy.

Research commissioned by Lyka in July 2026 found that 78% of Australian dog owners surveyed believe spending time in nature with their dog benefits their own mental health, while 79% said their dog loves being outdoors.

Despite that, only 19% described getting away with their dog as easy. Among those wanting to travel more with their dog, 68% said finding suitable accommodation was a barrier, and 64% felt most dog-friendly accommodation isn't actually designed with dogs in mind.

That's what makes the Lyka Lodge concept a little different. Rather than simply allowing dogs to accompany their owners, the experience has been created with them in mind.

It also fits naturally with Unyoked's philosophy. Founded in Australia in 2016 by twin brothers Chris and Cameron Grant, the company has grown from its first NSW cabin into a network of more than 130 off-grid cabins across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

The idea is deliberately simple: leave some of the noise and routine behind and spend time surrounded by nature.

For dog owners, that could mean morning coffee outside with their companion, exploring nearby walking trails, quiet evenings in the bush and, perhaps best of all, not having to leave a much-loved member of the household behind.
