SYDNEY CHIC REVIEW

I was invited to do a review on Kings Cross Hotel. It was an easy choice to make because it is literally two minutes from where I live. I’d recently been to the hotel for another event so was already familiar with this popular Kings Cross venue.

When I walked into the bar I asked for Ross who was managing that night, and he happened to be right there at the time. I warmed to this guy, he obviously has a very busy job that he handles brilliantly and made me welcome. I decided to do this review on my own rather than bring a plus one, because it’s a nice casual environment and I sometimes like just hanging out at a bar on my own. In 2011 I travelled to New York and I had a fear that I had to overcome, and that was to be able to go to a bar on my own, as a single woman and not feel self conscious. New York took that fear off my shoulders, as I made a concerted effort when I was there to do just that, and I did!

As it turned out I didn’t have to dine alone because Ross joined me and we chatted away about what I do and the hotel. Ross didn’t actually get to finish his meal (pictured) because he was buzzed a number of times and duty does call. I stayed on and ate my tacos, which is the Wednesday night “Weekly Dinner Deals”. The truth is I didn’t actually finish them, I just ate two because I’m a small eater, I wanted to continue eating however I have a rule that once I’m full, no matter how delicious the meal is, I stop. I did enjoy a glass of bubbles which is only $4.50 in happy hour!

At the moment the weekly dinner deals at Kings Cross Hotel are:

MONDAY: Curry, Rice, Naan, Pickles $12

TUESDAY: BBQ Pork Ribs, Slaw, Baked Potato $15

WEDNESDAY: Choice of 4 Tacos $12

THURSDAY: Chicken Schnitzel, Slaw & Chips $15

FRIDAY: Tortillas, Pico De Gallo, Guacamole, Sour Cream $15

SUNDAY: 250gm Rump, Prawns, Garlic Butter, Chips, Salad & any Tap Beer or Leftbank wine $25

As you can see fantastic value and with Happy Hour EVERY DAY between 5.00 – 7.00 Kings Cross Hotel makes for a great place for a meal and drink.

5 Levels including Rooftop

Local artist Henry Curchod and Jerry Washington have transformed the iconic Kings Cross Hotel staircase into a Trip through the Cross with a five-level art installation that dramatically transforms the hotel. From geometric shapes to a natural habitat, each level comes alive as it evolves to offer a different experience. Dramatically, Every element of the artwork brings back a piece of the Cross history and creatively launches it forward into modern times.
