Oceans Restaurant A Hotspot for Locals and Visitors

On Tuesday night, myself and @leo_styleguy were invited to attend the new menu launch of a popular Sydney beachside staple, "Oceans Dining". With its prized beach front position at the immensely popular Coogee Beach (Eastern Suburbs) this restaurant and bar is a hotspot for locals and visitors alike, taking in the best of the ocean scenery and beach vibes. Which is exactly what we did!!

The team hosting the event from Crowne Plaza as well as their delightful PR agent Claire Mountaine from Scout did an impeccable job of co-ordinating a sumptuous long table banquet feast to host ourselves and our peers in their beautifully decorated alfresco dining space on the terrace. With the background of the waves crashing on the shore and the sounds of the seagulls and beachgoers enjoying the end of the day, we sat to enjoy what was a wonderful evening and some even better gourmet fare.

Oceans is best described as a buzzy, casual dining venue and bar, with a distinctly relaxed vibe, but a menu that is diverse and sophisticated without being pretentious. They specialise in generous tasting plates to share (very in at the moment), wood-fired pizzas and sensational seafood of course!

Executive chef, Matthew Duggan, said it's all about appealing to locals and hotel guests with a big emphasis on fresh seasonal quality at reasonable prices. "Our menu has always revolved around the concept of sharing fresh, honest food around the table with friends. We welcome lunch and dinner guests of all ages, from kids to adults, and for a variety of occasions whether it be a casual meal or more formal event, so we need to ensure our menu is exciting and yet appeals to all!"

You can see a full copy of the menu we enjoyed on the evening and there is loads more available to select from. They also have special promotions through the week.

The drinks and cocktails list was sensational and we (I say "we" but mostly @leo_styleguy) enjoyed three of these including his favourite which was the Apothecary's Wife comprising Yellow Chartreuse, London Dry Gin and French Absinth! Fresh, beachy and sexy - which really sums up this great venue.

As your Sydney Chic Style Editor, @sydneystyleman was of course also interested in the revamp that they've had in terms of the look and feel of the venue. We chatted to the designer for the project, Alle Graham of Susie Graham Living. Interestingly the venue chose a residential stylist for this commercial project and it made perfect sense, because what she's achieved on a shoe string budget is in fact totally consistent with that beach bar, beach chic vibe.

With hanging plants, large long communal tables mixed with smaller round tables of varying heights, white Tolix stools and lounges this imbues a very Hamptons-esque feel, sophistication with beachside flare. The colour scheme mimics the ocean setting the azure blues, palm green and sunny yellow taking the spotlight, with a backdrop of white washed wood. Cole and Son wallpaper and Florence Broadhurst fabrics further add to the picture.

We agree that as a venue Oceans offers a myriad of dining options and spaces in a truly wonderful setting. We had a fabulous evening and we urge you to try it out soon - we're sure you'll become a regular in no time !

We are now planning a photoshoot beach day out at Coogee with our junior Style guy (my son Danté) and our little chihuahua Gabrielle. On this note, Oceans it totally family friendly and even has a little pet-playground complete with its own astro turf and white picket fence! Brilliant ideas from the guys at Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach. Look out for this shoot and also our suburb profile of things to do in one of Sydney's best beachside destinations!

Until then stay Stylish Sydney!
