Tina Arena's Top 5 Most Influential Artists Throughout Her Career

Tina Arena

Ahead of her upcoming Australian tour, renaissancetinaarena.com we asked Tina Arena her Top 5-6 most influential artists throughout her career. Here's are Tina's answers:

1. George Michael We lost a lot of amazing artists in the past few years, George’s death definitely hit me the hardest. We had mutual friends and I always had hoped to work with him one day.

As a songwriter and a vocalist he was just stunning. His catalogue is incredible and his lyrics so poignant.

2. Annie Lennox I loved her in the Eurythmics, I love her solo work. She is strong and so talented, her visuals were always so innovative and she just had hit after hit. Such a distinctive vocal and iconic artist, showing women everywhere how to be strong and successful.

3. Donna Summer Amazing vocalist and an under-rated song-writer, she wrote so many classics. I performed with her once in the USA and it was a career highlight for me, I’d looked up to her for so long so it was a privilege to share the stage with her.

4. Matt Corby Not an influence in my career but definitely one of the strongest artists to emerge from Australia this decade. He’s very interesting and really does things differently, makes music his own way in his own time and I think it shows.

5. Kate Bush Sublime. I met her when I was a child and I was transfixed. She was enigmatic - the voice the songs, I’d never heard anything like it - I think she’s one of the most interesting female musicians and again did things differently and on her own terms. She’s great.

Tina's music has been delighting for 40 years both in Australia and globally. Each of her album has gone gold, platinum or multi-platinum.

Throughout her career Tiina has collaborated with beatmakers Client Liaison on their Diplomatic Immunity album track, A Foreign Affair, she has also immersed herself in the classical world which has seen her tour with Andrea Bocelli. Other big names Tina has performed on stage with are Donna Summer and Stevie Wonder. She has had top club hits with collaborations with Tiesto and the world’s biggest DJs, as well as her popular albums in French further propelling her onto the global stage. Tina isn't afraid to diversify.

This continues to be Tina’s year, with her keynote at BIGSOUND being announced; industry heavyweights and punters alike will all be able to learn something from this tenacious, well-spoken star. A keynote at BIGSOUND, a festival well known for uncovering the next-best-things in Australian music, is testament to Tina’s ever-present finger on the pulse.
