Wander the Watagans

The Watagans Mountains are a hiker's paradise and one of the region's most popular tourist destinations. The Watagans, with its beautiful waterfalls, thick rainforest gullies, bushwalking routes, picturesque picnic places, and more, are a great place to reconnect with nature. The Watagans provide something for everyone, whether you're searching for a relaxing stroll through the bush or a challenging hike.


Watagans Mountains Hike

The Pines Circuit Walk, located within Onley State Forest in the Watagans Mountains, is a lush green region that visitors can wander through. This short hike takes hikers through the peaceful woods surrounding Dora Creek, past a little rushing waterfall and a dammed pool. Before returning to the starting point, stop by the wide-open Pines picnic area.


The 10-kilometre portion of the Superb North Walk in Watagans National Park offers excellent panoramic lookouts and excellent birdwatching for experienced bushwalkers.

Climb Some Walls

Out and About Adventures, for the more daring, offers rock climbing for all abilities while taking in the sights from the Watagans Mountains' sandstone cliffs. The sessions teach participants how to use the necessary equipment and skills to feel comfortable and safe when climbing up to 15 metres in height.


Out and About Adventures also provides abseiling if walking off a cliff backwards is more your style. On-site safety and technical training, as well as all necessary equipment, are supplied by specialised guides.



Pulse Climbing in Warners Bay is a great place to go when it's raining. This thrilling indoor rock climbing centre welcomes climbers of all skill levels, from beginners to experts, with highly trained personnel providing safety education and technical guidance.


Please be aware that Gap Creek Falls Road is now closed for repairs; however, Out and About Adventures trips continue to operate in the area.

And…. Breathe at the Beach
Caves Beach NSW

Relax and replenish your mental health by visiting one of Lake Macquarie's beautiful beaches. Around the lake, there are numerous beaches and sandy inlets, as well as empty stretches of sand dunes, sea caves to explore, and a number of secret bays only accessible by foot. Caves Beach includes a network of sea caves that may be explored at low tide, making it ideal for anyone looking for extra adventure after completing the Caves Beach Coastal Walk.

Ghosties Beach in Munmorah State Conservation Area is a great place to get away from it all for a more secluded beach walk. This unspoilt haven feels miles away from civilisation, and the tracks you leave while strolling up the beach will remain intact when you return.
