If you’ve ever looked up at Sydney Tower Skywalk and wondered what it’s like to step outside — this is that moment.

Sydney Tower Skywalk takes you 268 metres above the city, where you walk around the outside of Sydney Tower on a glass-floored platform, with nothing but air between you and the streets below. It’s a guided, open-air experience that delivers some of the most spectacular views in Sydney — without needing to jump, dive or leap from anything.

What is Sydney Tower Skywalk?

Skywalk is a 45-minute guided tour that runs around the exterior of the iconic golden turret of Sydney Tower. At twice the height of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, it is the highest open-air attraction in Sydney.

From the platform, you’ll see:

  • Darling Harbour and Barangaroo

  • Sydney CBD laid out beneath your feet

  • Circular Quay, the harbour and surrounding suburbs

  • Landmarks you’ll recognise instantly, but from a completely new perspective

Your guide provides commentary throughout the walk, pointing out key sights and sharing interesting details about the city and its layout.

Walking on Glass, 268 Metres Up

One of the standout moments is stepping onto the glass floor viewing platform. Looking straight down at Sydney’s streets is exhilarating, surreal — and surprisingly addictive once you get past the first few seconds.

There’s also the chance to have professional photos taken on the glass, with Sydney Harbour as your backdrop. These are available for purchase afterwards and make a great keepsake of the experience.

Is Skywalk Scary?

Despite the height, Skywalk isn’t designed only for adrenaline junkies. Yes, it’s thrilling — but it’s also very controlled and extremely well organised.

Safety is taken seriously:

  • You’re fully harnessed

  • All participants are secured together

  • Phones and cameras are not allowed on the walk

  • Lockers are provided for personal belongings

Before heading out, there’s a clear safety briefing and time to get comfortable with the equipment.

My Experience on the Skywalk

I did this experience myself, and from start to finish it takes about an hour, including harnessing and safety instructions.

Logically, there’s no real reason to be afraid — everyone is securely strapped in, and the guides are calm, experienced and reassuring. Once you step out and take in the view, any nerves quickly turn into awe.

The views are genuinely spectacular, and it’s one of those experiences that stays with you long after you’ve stepped back inside. I’m very glad I ticked this one off my bucket list.

Observation Deck Access Included

Before and after your Skywalk experience, you can continue enjoying the views from the indoor observation deck, giving you plenty of time to take in Sydney from above — at your own pace.

Why Book Sydney Tower Skywalk?

  • Sydney’s highest open-air attraction

  • Incredible city and harbour views

  • Guided experience with expert commentary

  • Thrill without extreme risk

  • A unique way to see Sydney from above
