Cafe del Mar Sydney Moet & Chandon Champagne Dinner

Cafe del mar Sydney Moet & Chandon

It was a night of splendour, good cheer, fine food, breathtaking views and new friends.

Last night I attended the Cafe del Mar Moet & Chandon Champagne dinner and oh what a night of elegance it was. As soon as I walked into Cafe del Mar I knew it was going to be spectacular. Cafe del Mar is one of my favourite Sydney venues, in fact my friend's @styleguy.tv treated me to lunch here for my birthday last year - it was a long lunch!

On arrival guests were treated to Moet & Chandon Ice Imperial with Canapes on the Terrace.

Wild mushroom and Roquefort, Chevre tartlets

Watermelon, Jamon Serrano, whipped feta

Personally I found this blend a little too sweet, however my new friend, Dana (pic below) who I met when I arrived raved about this one and told me that she stocks up when it's on special.

Speaking of new friends, I met these glamorous ladies from Melbourne and Adelaide.

After the terrace drinks it was time to move inside for Moet & Chandon Imperial served with:

Pambula Lake Sydney Rock Oysters,

strawberry granita,

Chardonny mignonette, apple, salmon roe.

A great pairing for the Imperial.

I must say my friend's Glen & Leo received lots of compliments about their Jack London Jackets. Such a great look 'bling with denim' – perfect style for this occasion.

During the night we were given a little history on the story of Moet and Chandon which I found fascinating. The presentation included some videos – this one below is how the brand featured celebrities in its advertising.

It was now time to move on to the Moet & Chandon Rose Imperial. Matched with:

Spanner crab and lobster ravioli, clam and saffron consomme

Rich, creamy and flavoursome. The Moet & Chandon Rose Imperial surprised me; if I did a blind tasting I would never have picked this for a rose because the flavour is so delicate.

For the next course we indulged in Moet & Chandon Grand Vintage 2008 and this was my winner. Oh yes, more please!

Paired with:

Seared Aylesbury-Pekin Duck breast, baby beetroot, mandarin gel

The flavours of the beetroot and mandarin were perfect with the duck. I find duck very rich so I could not eat all of this generous sized portion.

Then there was the finale! Moet & Chandon Nectar Imperial. Paired with:

Moet & Chandon Imperial Champagne foam, poached strawberry, salted-pistachio crumble, gold leaf.

Well there you have it! I didn't even know that Moet & Chandon had a 'dessert' champagne. A fabulous wine to finish off with this delightful dessert.
