National Op Shop Week - Get the Look with Recycled Clothing

By Deb Carr

I attended the launch of National Op Shop Week this morning and in the spirit of the event, I wore a jacket that I had purchased from The Salvos myself a while ago when I attended a fashion event put on by Faye De Lanty from Fashion Hound– here I am pictured wearing it now that I’m back in the office. I wore the jacket with a pair of slacks I bought nearly a decade ago -yes that's right, still wearing them after all these years. Now how is that for sensible shopping!

Speaking of Faye – hop on to her website, Fashionound.tv to be inspired by how she can get you looking like a hot celebrity for just a fraction of the cost of new clothing.

Salvos Stores is again partnering with NACRO www.nacro.org.au (National Association of Charitable Recycling Organisations) to celebrate National Op Shop Week, which aims to raise awareness of the importance of supporting Op Shops in our community. National Op Shop Week, which runs from 24th to the 31st of August, is a joint initiative of DoSomething! And NACRO.

I wanted to acknowledge in this blog post the people we sometimes don't get to see behind the scenes with charities like this, and in this photo I have Salvos Stores Chaplain, Major Robert Sneller and driver, Wayne Fitzgerald.
