Lorraine Elliot No Quite Nigella

I met Lorraine last year when we both attended an event at Centennial Park to. I instantly felt a rapport with her and this was before I knew she had one of the most incredible blogs that Australia has ever produced, of course I am talking about Not Quite Nigella.

Since that time we have kept in touch and I look forward to my daily post from 'Not Quite Nigella' in my inbox each morning. So who is the woman behind this famous blog? Read on and you will find out.

WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND?

I used to work in advertising as a media strategist but never really felt like that job was really me. It was more about money and I wanted something more creative but through some twist of fate I ended up there. But I was always looking over my shoulder.

WHY DID YOU START NOT QUITE NIGELLA?

I started it in September 2007. Back then you couldn't describe it as a blog because often you would get confused looks as people didn't know what a blog was. That has changed (although it still does happen!).

WHEN YOU STARTED NQN DID YOU EVER IMAGINE THE BLOG COULD BECOME SO POPULAR?

Absolutely never :) When I started I really thought that I was just writing to my sister and my friends! It was a shock when I realised that people were reading the blog but in a good way.

DESCRIBE A DAY IN YOUR LIFE?

Probably like you no two days are alike. I often travel a lot so I may be away but if I am home, I am often in front of the computer or busy developing and cooking recipes. There's a lot of time in front of the computer, probably more than people assume as each post takes a long time to write and edit. Each day starts at 9am because of course the commute is easy working from home (love this aspect!). The day ends around 11pm and this repeats itself as I work 7 days a week but it's the best job so I wouldn't complain about a thing.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE RECIPE?

As much as I love cakes and sweets, I'd probably pick something spicy and savoury. Probably one of my mother's recipes I'd say. Her beef rendang is fantastic. CLICK HERE FOR RECIPE.

WHAT IS MR NQN'S FAVOURITE FOOD?

I married someone that hates cakes and pastries (two things that I love to eat). His eyes light up when I hand him a colourful fruit salad with ice cream or yogurt.
