Club Intercontinental introduce: VIP Mixology Class

Recently I spent a fun afternoon with other media guests at the Club Intercontinental VIP Mixology Class. The picture above is one that I took for my instagram account and is featuring a cocktail that I made. I did a good job if I do say so myself, it was delicious.

This experience isn’t exclusive, in fact, anyone can book in to enjoy a couple of hours of cocktail making and canapés on the 31st floor of the Intercontinental Sydney for just $59 per person. I can assure you that the view is spectacular and the experience was a lot of fun.

When we arrived we were introduced to each other and enjoyed a cocktail called “Setting Sun”. This is a refreshing drink and similar to a Negroni.

20ml Campari

15ml Beefeater Gin

15ml Limoncello

Topped with Sparking Wine.

Tal, the Outlets Manager at the Intercontinental Sydney gave us some history on cocktails and explained some of the ingredients. Now it was our turn to make a cocktail and this time we were going to make a “Cherry Blossom Girl”. Tal explained some of the ingredients including something I had never heard of before called “Yuzu” puree.

We were paired up and took turns in making our drink whilst the other guests enjoyed canapés and finished their “Setting Sun” on the balcony with that stunning Sydney view of the Harbour and Eastern Suburbs.

30ml Jasmine Tea Infused Absolut Elyx (NOTE. Tal infused the Jasmine Tea himself & created the cocktails)

30ml Cointreau

30ml Housemade peach and yuzu puree

15ml Lemon Juice

Liquid Sugar

Topped with Micro Herbs (obtained in punnets at most major supermarkets)

This cocktail is delicious, a sign that it is well made looks like it may have egg white on top. Note: Deb failed this part, it all comes down to the way the cocktail is shaked.

Finally, we made a “Tommy’s Margarita”.

TOMMY’S MARGARITA (Tal’s version)

60ml Omeca Reposado

30ml Lime Juice (fresh)

15ml Agave Syrup (available in most health food shops)

Salted Rim Glass
