Things to do in Sydney: Enjoy a Paired Menu at Sheraton on the Park’s Conservatory Bar

Sheraton on the Park, Sydney’s luxurious five star hotel overlooking Hyde Park, has a new Paired menu at the revitalized Conservatory Bar. Guests can now enjoy a mix of artisanal small plates and eclectic bar snacks, served alongside suggested premium wines, and selected craft beers and that's exactly what I recently did.

The new menu uniquely pairs small plates and bar snacks with a recommendation from Sheraton Selects - a menu of premium wines rated 85 points or higher by Wine Spectator - and a craft beer, sourced specifically from choice brewers.

The Paired programme, offered across Sheraton properties globally, is available daily at the Conservatory Bar from 5.00 pm.

The ambience at this fabulous hotel is just my style; relaxed and candle lit with gorgeous décor. Looking out across the Park itself is an added bonus and guests can enjoy a drink out on the verandah. I must give a shout out here to the attentive staff for great service and friendly smiles.

It was difficult to choose from the menu because everything looked fantastic, however we chose:

Scallop Fritters

Crispy deep fried battered scallops, tamarind chilli sauce $22 which was paired with Domain Chandon chardonnay $16 or James Squire pale ale $10.

Lamb Rissole

Morrocan lamb meatballs, spiced tomato, yogurt $26 paired with de Bortoli Estate grown cabernet sauvignon $16 or White Rabbit dark ale $10.

Ribs

Spicy pork ribs, Asian slaw $24 paired with Wolf Blass Merlot $12 or James Squire pilsner $10

Pork Roll

Slow roasted pork belly, bao sandwich, wombok slaw $22 paired with Yering Station shiraz viognier $15 or Little Creatures pale ale $10.

Dessert: Crème Brule and Brownies glass of house sparking $10.

I don’t pretend to be a wine expert or food critic, however I do know what tastes good and the choices that we sampled were perfectly paired. We did not try any of the ales.

The plates were generous enough to share between two people. We also enjoyed the sounds of live music. Other dishes available are Mussel Pot, Garlic Shrimp, Nachos, Gyoza, Crab Roll and Crostini so a nice varied selection.
