Sydney Chic Interview With Elyse Knowles

I had the opportunity to chat with WaterAid and EMU Australia Ambassador, Elyse Knowles. I love Elyse's attitude to life......

From what I have read I gather you are a girl who has plenty of gratitude and appreciation of life. What advice would you give to someone who isn’t happy with their life?

If you’re not happy there is always a way to change that. From something as small as going for a walk everyday to get your motivation back for exercise (I always feel better when I'm exercising), or to making major changes like putting your foot down in your relationship (telling them what you want or need). When I feel a little down I like to treat myself. I will go to my favourite cafe and order a breakfast that I've been craving all week, shopping also works a treat! Sometime you just need a hug. Whether its someone from your family, your partner or a friend. Tell them how you are feeling, share some hugs and work through how you can make the situation better.

Which brings me to the question of you being a support of WaterAid: Why did you choose this charity to support?

Physically seeing the smiles on the children it supports faces is priceless. In Australia we really do take for granted how lucky we are. Collaborating with WaterAid was a great way to show Aussies how much people do suffer and how something so small can change the lives of individuals overseas. Helping others by providing funds for the simple things that we take for granted like, clean water and sanitation was a easy decision to work with WaterAid.

Most people probably think your life is all glamour but I have read that you have had no time for “diva” behaviour - that comes across with you, that you are a down to earth girl. So my question is how do you keep that personality when you have a lifestyle that many people would envy?

I think I stay grounded by just remembering how hard I have worked to get where I am today. I started in the modelling industry when I was 10 years old, I worked overseas for months on end by myself at a very young age, also going to hundreds and hundreds of castings hoping to land that one big job where my face and name will be remembered. Also that nothing gets handed to you on a plate! You have to work hard to reach your goals. It also helps that my family and boyfriend are very down to earth too. I continue to do all the activities I was brought up with including motor bike riding, water sports and surfing.

What do you love about the brand EMU Australia?

EMU Australia is a brand that I've grown up with, keeping my toes warm for winters on end. It has always been my dream to be an ambassador for such an iconic Aussie brand like EMU. It’s exciting to see the label expand and grow into fashionable footwear for every occasion

How is EMU Australia supporting WaterAid and how can we get involved?

EMU Australia has teamed up with WaterAid to enable the world's poorest people to gain access to safe water and sanitation. Something as simple as purchasing an EMU product goes a long way to improving the lives of people in need.
