Interview with Diana Rouvas Winner The Voice 2019.

Diana Rouvas

I had the opportunity to chat with Diana Rouvas, winner of The Voice 2019, about her sold-out winner’s run of show and her story. Diana is taking her Live show to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane this November to give fans the chance to experience her powerful performances.

Diana Rouvas is comfortable on the stage and why wouldn’t she be considering she has been actively working in the music industry in Australia and overseas for the past two decades. She’s done the hard work both on and off the stage before her well-deserved 2019 win. In fact, her debut original single, Wait For No One, which was released on the show’s Grand Final night, is an ode to always going for your dreams. That is exactly what this talented performer has done, since a very young age when she started singing at four years of age and songwriting at the ripe old age of eight.

Diana told to me that she was really destined to be a singer/songwriter having grown up with both her parents being musical and a great grandmother who sang opera in England. Diana’s parents taught the young girl techniques that she has used throughout her whole career. As a small girl she would line up toothbrushes as an aid to help her sing, she told me that she couldn’t write without a toothbrush and she looked upon it as some sort of antenna. Very amusing!

When she was 16, she travelled to the United States to work on her songwriting skills and by the time she was 17, she was working as Tina Arena’s backing vocalist, touring internationally. She has become one on the most in-demand singers in the industry and has performed alongside some of the country’s most well-respected names.

Diana Rouvas comes across as a happy, positive, determined and authentic person from speaking with her. She believes that you must take any opportunity when you can and is proud of the fact that she’s in her mid-30’s before she was recognised for her ability to entertain. She’s not one to ever be underestimated.

Although there is no album yet, Diana Rouvas has the material ready to go but as she explained to me there’s a lot of business to be done behind the scenes and she is keen to get it done which will be released through EMI.

Audiences attending her Live shows will have the chance to experience these songs including some of her favourites from her time on The Voice.

In 2012, Diana made her first appearance on the first series of The Voice, one of eight contestants in Keith Urban’s team. Her return in 2019 to join Boy George’s team followed years of hard work for the Sydney-born performer. Diana stays in touch with Boy George and told me he is as beautiful and authentic as he appears on screen.

Tickets for Diana Rouvas ‘Live’ tour are on sale now. Diana’s debut single Wait For No One is out now via EMI.
