The Portal - Can We Improve Our World With Meditation?
I remember the lunch Tom Cronin and I had in Martin Place many years ago. There was something about Tom's eyes that I have never forgotten. A meditation teacher, there is a calmness surrounding this man that is testament to what he teaches others; mindfulness and meditation for a happier life.
Fast Forward 2021
In a world full of COVID, war, fear and some horrible stuff, could it be feasible that meditation can help individuals lead more calm and successful lives and change the planet? Could meditation help solve the world's problems? Can we improve our world through meditation?
The Portal
Tom Cronin, has produced a documentary, The Portal, inspired by The Secret. The Secret is behind the inspiration that encouraged Tom to make a movie that showcased personal stories of the powerful transformation medication can bring.
The Secret was one of the first films to bring the esoteric subject matter to the world's households. I remembered back in 2007; the documentary was mind-changing for me. Whether you believe in the law of attraction or not, there is no denying our minds are magnificent and can influence our lives. Just think about when you are in a bad mood; does everything flow beautifully for you, or do you experience one annoyance after another? On the other hand, when you are in a great mood, more good things come your way. That's my experience anyway.
The good news is that using mindfulness and meditation can bring us profound peace and give us clarity and direction and especially when we meditate in nature.
I bought The Portal, and like The Secret, it will be a film I will watch many times. The Portal is an inspirational Australian produced documentary that follows the lives of six people and their personal experience with mindfulness, how it transformed their lives and helped some of them through their challenges. The others featured in the film talk about how mindfulness and meditation can be a benefit to the whole of humanity. I felt a range of emotions watching this documentary as it brings home that life is full of drama and challenges, and all of us participating on this planet has to deal with bad times during our lives. It also brings us hope for a better future.
At the end of the film, the Producers chat with some of the participants. With many people facing adversity and trying times in today's world, The Portal will demonstrate how positive change can happen with meditation. So I guess it brings me to this question; if meditation can transform a single person, what would the impact be if the majority of the world meditated together? Could it be the change that we humans need to fix the mess we have made to this planet? It is food for thought. If you do not know how to meditate, you will learn through Tom Cronin, and with my purchase of the film, I received a bonus of four meditation downloads.
