To celebrate Shirley Bassey's 80th Birthday Trevor Ashley will bring back his acclaimed show for one Gala evening in the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall on Thursday, March 2 in association with 2017 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
Ashley will be accompanied by a stunning 24-piece orchestra lead by John Foreman OAM. Foreman is one of Australia’s most recognisable household names, as a musician and television personality, having spent 12 years as Musical Director on Network Ten’s “Good Morning Australia” and writing the “Olympic Flame” song which was performed by Tina Arena at the 2000 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony. His illustrious career has seen his name credited on dozens of television shows and live musical events, as well as albums of notable Australian artists as producer. He is the Musical Director for Melbourne’s Christmas Eve “Carols By Candlelight” and the TV Week Logie Awards. Expect dazzling costumes designed by Academy Award® winner Tim Chappel, lots of humour and an unrivalled set of lungs. Ashley will perform dozens of Shirley Bassey hits as he takes you on a tour of her life – complete with feathers, flash and frequent diva tantrums. Tickets are on sale now through www.sydneyoperahouse.com/whatson/diamonds_are_for_trevor.aspx. ‘Frankly magnificent… he belts out impossible note after impossible note.’ (Time Out) ‘He’s a gem… a sparkly and ostentatious gem.’ (Herald Sun)
