American Express Open Air Cinema Sydney

American Express Openair Cinemas has announced its second stop in Sydney for the 19-20 season, just in time for the peak of Sydney’s stunning summer. The popular outdoor experience returns to Cadigal Green, at the University of Sydney in January 2020.  An exciting festival-inspired seasonal program of food and films has been revealed today.

This year’s program kicks off with a screening of crowd pleaser Knives Out on Jan 4th, a thrilling and modern whodunit starring Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Toni Collette and Jamie Lee Curtis to name a few.

The 2019-20 program features an exciting mix of recent box office hits such as Hustlers (8.1), Joker (9.1, 19.1), Ford V Ferrari (10.1) and Charlie’s Angels (17.1, 29.1). There are also two special preview screenings of the highly anticipated Bombshell (15.1) with Charlize Theron, Margot Robbie and Nicole Kidman plus the latest film by kiwi visionary Taika Waititi, Jojo Rabbit (30.01) and the last instalment of the epic saga, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (31.01). No seasonal cinema experience would be complete without a festive flick making an appearance and you can get your fix at one of two screenings of Last Christmas (05.1, 18.1).

Little and big kids alike will rejoice at screenings of family films Frozen II (11.1, 1.2) Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (24.1) and Abominable (25.1).

The popular USU Eats food truck will be onsite every night to cater for moviegoers’ hunger with cheeseburgers, chipotle beef steaks, vegan fajitas and empanadas, satay chicken and honey roasted pumpkin salads. Just make sure to keep space for desert as Haagen-Dazs will be bringing the goods with their decadent ice cream flavours.
