I had a chance to ask Vanessa Amorosi some questions regarding her new single 'Heavy Lies the Head' and her Australian tour.

What have you been doing in the last 10 years?

I've spent the last 10 years living and working in LA and now am ready to share the new music that I've been working on.

How does it feel to be touring Australia again and what can your audience expect?

I love it! It’s my happy place. I'm excited to show some of the new music I've been working on, but also relive my childhood with some of the songs the audience knows me for.

What’s the inspiration behind your new single Heavy Lies The Head?

Heavy Lies the Head is brutally honest track that I've wanted to make my whole career. It's my first solo single in almost a decade, so I wanted to showcase some of the influences I've had in the last several years. Artists like Dave Stewart, Aleena Gibson and Trevor Muzzy and Tony Joe White just to name a few.

As a teenager, who inspired you with their music?

As early as 5, I grew up listening to and became inspired by Aretha Franklin and Etta James.

What big name performers have you worked with?

Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, Tennessee Mass Choir, Mary J Blige, Rob Thomas, Joe Crocker and Hoobastank.

What’s on the agenda after your tour?

To continue making great music and seeing my friends on the road.

What advice have you got for inspiring musicians/bands?

You have to be so passionate about what you’re doing cause the word you’ll hear a lot of is no 😃
