Seresilk Silkworm Beauty Treatments: Unveiling the Secrets of Silk for Radiant Skin

I have been trialling a rather unusual skincare treatment, made from silk. Unusual for me anyway, as I've never heard of treatments like this before. Taylor Battistella is the founder of this brand, Seresilk. Taylor launched Everything Silkworms as a 12-year-old schoolboy, after rearing 100 silkworms in a shoebox from his bedroom. One month and 25,000 eggs later, he began selling silkworms to retailers and Australian schools around the country. Studying silkworms at school ignited a passion that continues to grow over a decade later!

Seresilk is the world’s first skincare range made with Australian silk. Out of the tight edit of four products, the hero product of the four-step routine is the Seresilk Pure Silk Exfoliator; an exfoliator made of 100% pure silk in its natural form having been used in skincare for close to 5,000 years thanks to its proven skin benefits as nature's strongest but lightest natural fibre.

Throughout history, silk has been renowned for its luxurious texture and elegance in fashion. However, its benefits go beyond stylish attire; Seresilk silkworm beauty treatments have taken skincare to another level. Originating from the miraculous work of silkworms, these treatments are packed with essential nutrients and amino acids that promote radiant skin and overall rejuvenation.

Silk production begins with the silkworm's cocoon, a marvel of nature. The cocoon is composed of fibroin, a protein that serves as the building block of silk. This fibroin contains numerous amino acids, including serine and glycine, known for their exceptional hydrating and anti-aging properties. One of the key benefits of Seresilk beauty treatments is the ability to deeply hydrate and nourish the skin. The amino acids found in Seresilk help retain moisture, leaving your skin soft, supple, and well-hydrated, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Silkworm beauty treatments are rich in antioxidants, which help neutralise free radicals and protect the skin from environmental damage. As a result, these treatments can slow down the aging process and improve skin elasticity, making it appear firmer and more youthful.

Serine, an amino acid abundant in Seresilk, has been found to promote skin brightening and even out skin tone. This makes Seresilk treatments an excellent option for those dealing with pigmentation issues and sunspots. In addition to its hydrating properties, silk contains sericin, a natural protein that offers gentle exfoliation. Sericin helps remove dead skin cells, leaving your skin smooth and polished without causing any irritation, making it suitable for sensitive skin types. I have enjoyed using the Natural Silk Cocoon to exfoliate my hands and face.

Seresilk is widely used in various beauty products, including facial masks, moisturisers, serums, and even hair care products. Its lightweight texture allows it to be easily absorbed by the skin, delivering its nourishing benefits effectively.

Environmental Sustainability

Seresilk beauty treatments are not only beneficial for your skin but also for the environment. The process of obtaining silk involves sustainable practices, with silkworms consuming mulberry leaves, a renewable resource, and producing silk without causing harm to the environment. The packaging came with you guessed it, silk as the fill. So I used it to pump up one of my cushions rather than throw it out!

Give it a try, I've found the products to have a luxurious feel, especially the cleanser.
