Emmilou | Restaurant Review
I knew that my visit to Emmilou Tapas Bar was going to be special as I had been interacting with Ryan (the Manager) on Twitter and via phone prior to my visit. I was right of course! It started with the moment I entered the restaurant and was greeted by Ryan and his team. I was really struck by the décor and ambience, exactly the type of ‘feel’ that I like in a restaurant.
Ryan offered me a cocktail so I tried a Loulita (Vodka, Aperol, Botrytis, Semillon, Peychauds Bitters and Citrus. One word! YUM!
Then it was on to the tasting, Marinated Manzanilla Olives with Lemon and Rosemary, served with bread and olive oil and a special vinegar.
Following that I had Seared Scallops with Tomato & Capsicum Salsa and Pea Puree. It was delicious and presented beautifully which is represented in the slides on this page, incidentally all the foods I tried are in the slides.
I adore calamari when it is cooked perfectly and I was not disappointed with the Fried Fresh Calamari with Fried Parsley, Chilli and Garlic Aioli.
One of my all time favourite dishes is Zucchini Flowers and the Zucchini Flowers with Goats Cheese and Truffle Honeywas melt in the mouth…..scrumptious!
I can’t even try to describe the taste and texture of the next dish because I could not do it justice, but I will try. The Slow Cooked Pork Belly with Sofrito and Potato Puree was absolutely delicious. The pork is cooked for many hours and very tender, literally melts in the mouth, crackling on the side served with Potato Puree which was divine. The Potato Puree had a velvet texture and very buttery.
I also enjoyed a glass of 2012 Serbal Malbec – Mendoza from Argentina and finished off with a wicked dessert Chocolate Ganache Tart with Chantille Cream an Coca Nibs.
Excellent Service, great ambience and fabulous menu. I’ll be back!
