6 Reasons To Take Your Next Trip Solo

Going on a solo trip is something that everybody should do at least once. Whether you’re male or female, late teens or late 50s, you should consider taking your next trip solo. There are so many reasons to go on a solo trip, and we’re going to outline 6 of them here. Take a look and see if you can be tempted to go it alone!

1. You’ll Learn More About Yourself Than You Ever Thought Possible

As you’ll be all by yourself in a brand new destination, you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about yourself than you ever thought possible. You’ll get a better idea of your likes and dislikes, and be able to really take this time to get to know yourself. It takes the phrase ‘being your own best friend’ to a whole other level. Many people worry they will get lonely, but learn they actually love the peace. You won’t know unless you try it!

2. You Can Do What You Want When You Want

Travelling solo means you can do what you want when you want. You can go to the sights you want to see, take the trips you want to go on, and completely make this trip your own. You don’t need to compromise or go places you would rather stay away from. There’s nobody to please but yourself. It’s not selfish - it’s a lot of fun!

3. You’ll Meet Interesting People

When you’re alone, you’re more likely to interact with locals and other travellers you come across. This means meeting some interesting people that you may not have met otherwise! It can be difficult to make friends when you’re in a group sometimes, but when you’re on your own, locals and other solo travellers will likely welcome you with open arms.

4. You’ll Build Your Confidence

Solo travel can be scary, but it’s a wonderful way to build your confidence. You’ll surprise yourself with the things you can do, even if it’s just booking cheap airport car rental or going on a walking tour. You’ll have more confidence than you know what to do with when you get home.

5. You’ll Get A Huge Sense Of Achievement

When you’ve been on a solo trip, it’s normal to get a huge sense of achievement. You’ll feel like you’ve ticked something huge off your bucket list, you’ll have plenty of stories to tell, and you will feel proud of yourself for it.

6. You Can Be In The Moment

Solo travel is perfect for spontaneous day trips and grabbing opportunities with both hands. You are free to be in the moment. There’s no need to worry about whether somebody else is having a good time, or what they want to do. You aren't in your own head. You can take in your surroundings fully and learn the meaning of ‘being in the present.
